Papanggo Encourages Residents of RW 07 to Sort Waste from Home
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Papanggo Subdistrict, North Jakarta, encourages residents of RW 07 to sort and process waste from home through a community-based waste management program. This step is aimed at reducing the volume of waste thrown away while increasing the utilization of household waste.
The program was socialized at the RW 07 Secretariat Office, Papanggo Village, Wednesday (30/9/2026), starting at 14.00 WIB. Residents received an explanation regarding the techniques for sorting organic and inorganic waste as well as the benefits of joint waste management in residential areas.
Papanggo Village Head Erwin Djati Kusuma said that successful waste management requires citizen involvement, starting from the habits of each household.
"Waste management is no longer just the government's responsibility, but rather a collective obligation that starts from individual awareness at the household level," said Erwin.
According to him, residents are expected to not only understand how to sort waste, but also be able to process it into something useful. The sub-district government will accompany the implementation of the program so that this habit can run consistently.
Assistance to Change Citizens' Habits
In this activity, resource person Restu Haps explained the technicalities and benefits of community-based waste management. The discussion session also discussed residents' questions regarding sorting organic and inorganic waste.
A community-based approach is expected to strengthen cooperation between residents in handling waste at its source. Apart from keeping settlements clean, this program is expected to provide benefits to the environmental health and economy of the community.
The socialization was attended by representatives of the government, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Pasar Jaya, as well as elements of the community. These include the RT/RW Forum, the Village Deliberation Institution (LMK), TP PKK, Dasawisma cadres and community leaders.
Papanggo Subdistrict hopes that this activity will be the beginning of a change in waste management habits in RW 07. It is hoped that similar initiatives can also be implemented in other areas in the subdistrict.
