PPSU officers completed the construction of a composting house around Taman Monas Mini, Kembangan Selatan, West Jakarta, Monday (28/9/2026). This facility is prepared to process organic waste into compost while reducing waste sent to landfill

JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Efforts to reduce the generation of waste sent to final processing sites continue to be strengthened at the sub-district level. Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers accelerated the construction of a composting house in the Taman Monas Mini area, in front of the Kembangan Selatan Subdistrict Office, Kembangan District, West Jakarta, Monday (28/9/2026).

The composting house is prepared as a facility for processing organic waste produced by the community. Food waste, leaves and other organic materials can later be processed into compost that is beneficial for plants.

Head of the Economic and Development Section of Kembangan Selatan Subdistrict, Muhammad Ridwan, said the facility was part of efforts to strengthen environmentally based waste management.

"Through this facility, it is hoped that organic waste can be managed and reused into compost, thereby helping to reduce the amount of waste thrown into final landfills," said Ridwan.

According to him, the sub-district office continues to monitor development progress to ensure the work goes well and is in accordance with community needs. Apart from working on the main building, PPSU officers also organized the area around the composting house.

It is hoped that the existence of this facility will not only help maintain a clean environment, but also encourage people to start sorting waste from its source. Organic waste can be processed into compost, while inorganic waste is separated for recycling or managed through other mechanisms.

Ridwan hopes that the construction of the composting house will be completed soon so that it can be utilized optimally by the people of South Kembangan.

"It is hoped that the construction and use of composting houses can run optimally and provide benefits for cleanliness and environmental management in the Kembangan Selatan Subdistrict area," he said.
