Mojokerto Deputy Regent Muhammad Rizal Octavian delivered directions at a coordination meeting for forest and land fire risk management at the Graha Maja Tama Pendopo, Monday (26/10/2026).

Community involvement also needs to be strengthened, along with cross-sector coordination to deal with emergencies.

"We must not wait until fires become more widespread to strengthen preparedness. We also must not assume that fires in forest areas are a problem that is only the responsibility of area managers," he said.

According to him, regional governments, TNI-Polri, forest managers, village governments, the business world, community organizations, volunteers and residents need to be involved from the prevention stage to post-fire recovery.

This direction places implementation in the field as an important follow-up to coordination meetings. Risk mapping, handling readiness and rehabilitation of affected areas need to be realized through joint work.

"We must move together, work in an integrated manner, and ensure that every step we formulate in this coordination meeting is actually implemented in the field," said Rizal.
