Cilegon Receives 91 Units of Waste Facilities, Encourages Segregation from Source
CILEGON, GARISBUMI.com – The Cilegon City Government received assistance for 91 units of waste facilities through the Improvement of Solid Waste Management to Support Regional and Metropolitan Cities Project (ISWMP) program. This support will be used to strengthen waste collection while encouraging management from the source.
The assistance consists of 59 cator units, 28 losbak units, three colt diesel units and one compactor unit. The handover took place at the Aston Hotel Cilegon, Tuesday (6/10/2026), during city-level outreach activities and handover of upstream waste collection facilities.
The Mayor of Cilegon, Robinsar, said that this assistance was a significant support amidst limited regional government budgets. He ensures that the facilities received will be optimized to improve waste services.
"Thank you to all stakeholders who have helped make today's agenda a success. This assistance is very useful for Cilegon City and God willing, we will optimize it for waste management," said Robinsar.
According to him, waste management must go hand in hand with changes in community behavior. This problem cannot be sufficiently resolved downstream, but needs to be addressed from the moment waste is produced through reduction, reuse and recycling or the 3R principle.
"Don't always think that waste only has to be resolved downstream. The main thing is how we change the paradigm, starting from the source, through reduce, reuse and recycle efforts," he said.
Robinsar emphasized the need for involvement from the community, business world, educational institutions, regional officials and the environmental community. Socialization and education must continue to be carried out so that residents understand their role in reducing and managing waste.
