Saka Wanabakti Strengthened, Young Generation Touched Down to Directly Guard the Forest
SOLOK, GARISBUMI.com – The Ministry of Forestry strengthens Saka Wanabakti as a forum for fostering the younger generation to have skills while being directly involved in maintaining the forest.
The strengthening was carried out through institutional improvement, base activation, and the development of four more real Krida activities in the field.
The step was discussed at the National Saka Wanabakti Leadership Coordination Meeting (Pinsakanas) and Pinsakada Saka Wanabakti West Sumatra at the Solok Permanent Nursery, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, Friday, September 11, 2026.
The coordination meeting brought together Pinsakanas and Pinsakada with the West Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service and a number of technical implementing units of the Ministry of Forestry in the region.
This forum was held to map the current condition of Saka Wanabakti, evaluate the ongoing coaching, identify various obstacles, and agree on concrete steps to strengthen the organization.
Census Data Must End in Action
Head of the Forest Conservation Generation Development Center (Pusgenri) as well as General Secretary of Pinsakanas Saka Wanabakti, Luckmi Purwandari, said that strengthening Saka Wanabakti must move from data collection to real action at the site level.
“The census gives us data, but the data has to lead to action. We need to make sure the institution is active, the base is alive, Pamong and Instructors are moving, and Saka members really gain forestry experience and skills through the four Krida," Luckmi said.
According to him, Saka Wanabakti must be a learning space as well as a space for action for the younger generation to preserve the forest.
The coordination meeting also followed up on the results of the 2026 Saka Wanabakti National Census. Data collection recorded 314 unique respondents, 82 verified active bases, and 4,885 active members of the Enforcement and Pandega groups spread across 38 provinces.
The census results show that Saka Wanabakti institutions in a number of regions still face legality and activeness issues. However, activities at the site level continue to grow thanks to the role of Pamong, Instructors, alumni, and the support of related agency facilities.
These findings form the basis for the Ministry of Forestry to determine the form of guidance and intervention according to the conditions ofeach region.
Prepare Quick Steps in West Sumatra
In West Sumatra, coordination meetings result in a number of quick steps or quick wins. These steps include validating member and database data, revamping institutional legality, and determining priority bases.
Strengthening the role of the technical implementation unit of the Ministry of Forestry as a coaching node is also a concern. In addition, the government will encourage the preparation of the four Krida activities and build a member regeneration path, Pamong, and Instructors.
The four Krida consist of Tata Wana, Guna Wana, Bina Wana, and Reksa Wana. These four become the path of learning forestry skills for members of Saka Wanabakti.
The Ministry of Forestry encourages coaching patterns to shift from activities that are only event-oriented to a learning by doing approach or learning through direct practice.
The work area of the technical implementation unit and the Forest Management Unit can be used as practice spaces for members to master skills in the four Krida.
This approach is in line with the reformulation of Saka Wanabakti's Special Skills Requirements and Signs of Special Skills. Updates are made so that members' competencies are more applicable and relevant to the development of forestry issues.
Saka Wanabakti Becomes Forestry Study Space
Throughout 2026, the strengthening of Saka Wanabakti nationally was also carried out through the development of Forest Areas with the Special Purpose of Saka Wanabakti Sentul as a laboratory for the development of four Krida.
Other programs include strengthening and strengthening bases in a number of areas and forestry vocational high schools. Saka Wanabakti also participated in the XII National Jamboree 2026 to introduce the organization and the world of forestry to thousands of young people.
The coordination meeting at Solok is expected to produce a mapping of actual conditions, determination of priority issues, and quick steps for the 2026-2027 period. The forum also discussed the division of roles between parties and a measurable follow-up mechanism.
With this step, the coordination of Pinsakanas and Pinsakada is expected not to stop in the meeting room, but to develop into real actions of the younger generation to protect the forest. (*)
