Utilizing reservoir surfaces is one of the approaches that is developing in the development of large-scale solar PV in Indonesia. Apart from reducing the need for land, the existing electricity infrastructure around water generating areas can support the integration of solar plants.

However, floating solar PV projects still require technical and environmental management, including panel mooring systems, changes in water level, operational safety, as well as monitoring the impact on the reservoir ecosystem.

With progress at 47 percent, the Saguling project still has about half the work to do before entering the operational stage.
