Mount Ciremai Fire Extinguished, 46.42 Hectares of Forest Area Burned
BRASS, GARISBUMI.com – The forest fire in the Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC) area, Kuningan Regency, West Java, was successfully extinguished after lasting three days, 7–9 September 2026. The area affected was estimated at 46.42 hectares.
Fires hit a number of locations, namely Simaung Block, Tegal Bodas, Cileutik, Jalan Maling Situmpuk, and Panjakroma.
The fire was first detected on Monday, September 7 2026, at around 12.05 WIB. TNGC Hall officers received public reports regarding smoke plumes around the Simaung Block, Singkup Village.
The smoke plume was also monitored by the Unmanned Air Patrol (PUTA) team at the SPTN Region I Kuningan Forest Fire Control Post.
The extinguishing process faced a number of obstacles. Strong winds, rocky terrain, and dry conditions of litter and bushes caused the fire to spread quickly and re-ignite several times.
Head of the Mount Ciremai National Park, Toni Anwar, said officers were continuing to extinguish and sweep to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas.
“The fire rekindled several times because of the wind. Officers continued to extinguish and sweep until they ensured that all fires were completely extinguished. "This effort is important to prevent fires from spreading and protect conservation forest areas," he said. said Tony.
Extinguishing is carried out by land using manual and mechanical equipment. After the fire was successfully controlled, officers continued the mopping up process or thorough combing to ensure there were no embers or hot spots that could potentially re-ignite.
Based on the results of the search as of Wednesday, September 9 2026, at 15.51 WIB, all fires in the five locations were declared extinguished. The fire area has also been declared clean and safe from fire.
Nearly 100 Hectares of the Ciremai Area Will Burn Throughout 2026
The accumulated area of Mount Ciremai that burned from July 21 to September 2026 reached around 97.32 hectares.
This condition is an important warning for area managers and the public to increase vigilance, especially when dry weather and strong winds increase the risk of forest fires.
TNGC Hall invites the public to work together to protect the Mount Ciremai conservation area. The public is also asked to immediately report to officers if they find smoke, fire or other indications of fire.
Protecting Mount Ciremai does not only mean protecting forest areas, but also maintaining ecosystems, biodiversity, water sources and environmental benefits for people's lives.
