Representatives of schools and regional officials took part in the presentation of the Jembrana Integrated Electric Shuttle (JIES) concept in the Jimbarwana Floor II Meeting Room, Wednesday (30/9/2026). This integrated electric transportation program is designed to include student shuttle services, city buses and electric taxis

JEMBRANA, GARISBUMI.com – The Jembrana Regency Government is developing the concept of integrated electric transportation through the Jembrana Integrated Electric Shuttle (JIES) program. Student pick-up and drop-off services are one of the initial focuses to answer routine travel needs while encouraging environmentally friendly mobility.

This concept was discussed at the Jembrana Regency Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) coordination meeting with Jembrana Regency Government Special Staff I Gede Winasa, Wednesday (30/9/2026), in the Jimbarwana Floor II Meeting Room.

The meeting was attended by representatives of junior high schools, high schools or equivalent, as well as regional organizations within the Jembrana Regency Government.

In her presentation, Winasa explained that JIES was designed to integrate student pick-up and drop-off services, electric city buses, electric taxis and customer digital systems.

The development of this program is directed at answering a number of transportation problems, ranging from dependence on private vehicles, local congestion, motor vehicle emissions, to the need for safe and affordable travel for students.

Schools are the initial targets

Students became one of the initial focuses of JIES development because they have routine and measurable travel patterns. The concept of pick-up and drop-off using electric vehicles is expected to support travel safety and comfort while building environmentally friendly habits in schools.

During the meeting, participants received an overview of examples of cooperation schemes with schools through memorandums of understanding or MoUs. The scheme is directed at supporting environmentally friendly schools, safe transportation for students, and reducing emissions from the transportation sector.

Program socialization was also discussed through plans to use circulars and cross-sector collaboration to expand community participation.

Integrate Transportation and Energy Management

The JIES concept relies on three pillars, namely green transportation, smart mobility and circular economy. The development does not only include electric vehicle services, but is also directed at integrating sustainable energy and environmental management.

Through this coordination, the Jembrana Regency Government hopes that the regional government, schools and related parties will have a common understanding regarding the development of JIES. This program is part of the direction of Jembrana's development as a smart and sustainable area.

JIES is still in the concept development and coordination stage. The text submitted does not yet contain operational schedules, fleet numbers, service routes, or user fees.
