BRIN and TNI AU Re-Prepare Artificial Rain Console to Handle Forest and Land Fires
"Repairing this console is part of an effort to re-optimize the equipment we already have. After the entire repair process and feasibility checks are completed, we hope that the console can again support the implementation of weather modification operations, especially for the needs of dealing with forest and land fires," he explained.
Agus emphasized that equipment readiness is one of the supporting factors for operations when a response to the threat of forest and land fires is needed. Therefore, inspection and repair must be carried out carefully before the equipment is returned to operation.
Strengthen Disaster Management Technology Readiness
The restoration of the artificial rain console involved BRIN's research and development capacity for weather modification technology as well as technical support from the Indonesian Air Force's Depohar 10 Team.
This collaboration is directed at restoring the function of equipment while strengthening the readiness of supporting technology for disaster management.
"Handling forest and land fires requires cooperation from various parties. Through the synergy between BRIN and the Indonesian Air Force, we hope that the available weather modification equipment can be optimized again so that it can provide support for disaster management efforts in various regions of Indonesia," said Agus.
He added that maintenance of existing technological infrastructure needs to go hand in hand with resource readiness and coordination between institutions. In this way, the existing equipment can continue to be utilized to support disaster management needs.
