Serang Involves Residents in Early Flood Detection, Requests for Inundation Points to be Evaluated
GARISBUMI.com – SERANG, GARISBUMI.com | The Serang City Government is strengthening flood preparedness through involving residents in the Disaster Response District Forum or Kencana. Regional officials were asked to evaluate spots prone to flooding, carry out cleaning of water channels, and report drainage damage to the relevant agencies.
This direction was conveyed by the Mayor of Serang, Budi Rustandi, when inaugurating the management of the Kencana Forum in the Cipare Subdistrict Office Hall, Tuesday (3/11/2026), according to a statement from the Serang City Government.
Budi asked the forum to play a role in early detection of potential flooding in residential areas. The sub-district head, village head and neighborhood heads were also asked to coordinate to revisit locations that frequently experience inundation.
"At the end of this year we must immediately work together to clean drainage or river flows," said Budi.
Damaged and clogged drains need to be followed up
Apart from cleaning, Budi emphasized the need for follow-up if damage or serious blockages are found in the water channels. Regional administrators are asked to immediately coordinate with regional officials in charge of handling it.
"If there is something that needs to be repaired, immediately contact the Water Resources Service (SDA) or the Serang City Public Works Service (PU) which is in charge," he said.
