Five Sumatran Rhinos Have Been Born at SRS

The breeding program at SRS Way Kambas has resulted in the birth of five Sumatran rhinos, namely Andatu in 2012, Delilah in 2016, Sedah Mirah in 2022, and Anggi and Indra in 2023.

The program is managed by the Ministry of Forestry through the Way Kambas National Park Center together with the Indonesian Badak Foundation (YABI).

SRS places rhinos in their natural habitat with minimal human interaction. This management is accompanied by intensive medical care and reproductive monitoring.

Chairman of the YABI Board, Jansen Manansang, said that the readiness of the two parents was the team's main concern during the pregnancy period.

"The SRS medical team will carry out intensive monitoring so that Ratu and Delilah can go through the pregnancy period well and give birth to healthy children," he said.

Jansen also appreciated the support of various parties for the sustainability of the program, including the International Rhino Foundation (IRF), Taman Safari Indonesia, and TFCA Sumatra.
