Urban Farming on the Roof of the Taman Sari District Head Office Harvesting Fish and Pokchoy
WEST JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – The roof of the Taman Sari District Office, West Jakarta, is used as an urban farming area that produces vegetables and fish. The harvest reached 11 kilograms of tilapia, 9 kilograms of hydroponic pokchoy, and 2 kilograms of catfish.
Taman Sari Subdistrict Head Simson Hutagalung said the harvest would be used to support community empowerment and PKK cadre activities. Some of the funds will also be reused to maintain the sustainability of the urban farming program at the sub-district office.
"The proceeds from pokchoy harvesting and fish cultivation will be used for PKK cash. Some of the funds will also be turned back to purchase fish feed and operational maintenance of the biofloc system," said Simson in a statement received, Tuesday (6/10/2026).
The use of the roof area combines hydroponic pokcoy planting with fish cultivation. The result is a source of support for PKK activities as well as helping to meet operational maintenance needs.
By reallocating some of the funds for feed and care, it is hoped that urban agricultural activities can continue and provide benefits to the community.
"We hope it can be useful in supporting food security in the region," said Simson.
